Job Summary


The Architecture Design Manager will be responsible for guiding & developing direct reports and ensuring projects, goals, and tasks are completed in a timely manner.  In addition, Architecture Design Manager will lead & manage design processes, coordinate with other construction support teams, monitor product innovation & changes, and continually seek to improve all processes.




Essential Job Functions


o    Guide and Develop Direct Reports


§  Monitor workload of direct reports and advise on new hiring when necessary, ensure a high quality of life for direct reports


§  “Walk alongside” direct reports daily to ensure quality of work


§  Hold direct reports accountable to Betenbough and Architecture Team standards


§  Plan for professional and personal growth of each team member


§  Provide Training and support for direct reports


§  Develop relationship with direct reports.  Build Trust.


§  Be the Chief Encouragement Officer for your direct reports


§  Intentionally look for and identify areas of growth


§  Insert yourself into day-to-day operations of the team to help guide Project Managers in their leadership, and to identify growth areas


o    Lead and Continually Improve the Product Design Process


§  Manage schematic design process


§  Prepare material for R&D consideration


o    Manage the Initiation of Construction Drawings


o    Lead the Improvement of Processes and Drawing Systems


§  Foster climate of innovation and continual improvement


§  Set Department Goals to accomplish changes


o    Manage Task Coordination with Production & Purchasing Teams


§  Coordinate with Purchasing to set product elements


§  Coordinate with Production Team to edit construction drawing


o    Monitor Product Success and Development


§  Coordinate with Marketing to determine customer trends


§  Monitor plan sales and popularity metrics


o    Intentionally look for ways to personally, and professionally grow.  Always be a student of the business.


§  Read books

§  Attend conferences


o    Fill in for other Team Members


§  Fill in for Project Managers in their roles


§  Fill in for other team members



§  Experience Leading an Architecture Design Team

§  Ability to lead others to achieve desired goals

§  Architecture License is preferred

§  Detailed Personality

§  Advanced Revit or AutoCAD, and Computer Skills

  • Recommended Experience: 
    • 4+ years of leadership
    • 7+ years of architecture 


Work Environment and Physical Requirements

§  Works in temperature-controlled environment 

§  Vision for near, mid-range and far as well as hearing for low, medium, and high pitch

§  Superior communication skills with co-workers, customers, trade partners and vendors.

§  Requires physical ability for standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching above head and below waist

  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license and must be able to be insured by company fleet insurance. 

§  Must be able to perform all job expectations safely with or without reasonable accommodations

§  Ability to lift 30-50 pounds


Hours & Schedule

§  50-55 hrs/week typically (between 7:00am and 5:00pm)

§  After hours and weekends may be necessary on occasion for trips, or to meet deadlines.

§  Lunch meetings are occasionally required.

§  Travel is regularly required.
