Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) is a self-supporting entity that maintains and operates the Angus L. Macdonald and A. The Customer Service Summer Student reports directly to the Customer Service Supervisor. The Customer Service Summer Student is responsible for providing customer service related to the MACPASS electronic tolling collection system; processing account applications, responding to customer inquiries, managing account payments, generating reports, and balancing deposits. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Communicate with customers by telephone, in person or e-mail to provide information about products or services, take or enter orders, cancel accounts, or obtain details of complaints.
  •   Receive payment by cash, credit cards, or debit.
  •   Check to ensure that appropriate decisions changes were made to resolve customers' problems.
  •  Keep records of customer interactions or transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments, as well as actions taken.
  •  Resolve customers' service or billing complaints by performing activities such as exchanging transponders, refunding money, or adjusting bills.
  • Refer unresolved customer concerns to Customer Service Supervisor for further investigation.
  • Maintain and update an accurate filing system.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas between customers throughout each shift. 

  • Additional duties as assigned.

QualificationsQualifications and Competencies:       

  • Must be registered as a full time student and returning to school as a full time student in the upcoming school year.
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in a face-to-face customer service position.
  •  Proficient with payment processing, use of Point of Sale (POS) devices and cash handling experience.
  •  Exceptional customer communication and interaction skills.
  •  A willingness to learn and ability to function effectively in a team environment.
  •  Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word.

 

 

 

This is a part time, temporary position working 22.5 hours per week from 1:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday throughout HHB’s summer season.

 


Must pass a pre-employment identity and criminal background check.
