Welcome To Charlottetown Area Development Corp - Applying For The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Position

We are currently seeking a CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) who will be responsible to the Board of Directors for three key objectives: to assist the Board of Directors in their process of setting policy and making decisions; to administer the affairs of CADC in accordance with the by-laws and Board of Directors’ direction; and to initiate, oversee, and manage operations and projects to meet the CADC’s mission and strategic goals. They will be a dynamic individual who is driven for results, demonstrates strong leadership, and leads engaged innovation.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountability:

• Provide leadership to the Chair, Executive and Board of Directors (BOD) on the daily activities of CADC to meet the strategic goals identified by the BOD
• Coordinate and manage the implementation of development projects in terms of relationship management, project delivery, project management, and achievement of project objectives
• Administer the daily activities of CADC through appropriate representation of the interest of CADC and positive relationship building with CADC shareholders, all three levels of government, and community stakeholders
• Develop and implement business strategic direction, budgets, marketing plans, capital investment plans, and capital maintenance/improvement strategies for BOD approval.
• Provide regular financial, operations, and project status reports to the BOD detailing activities, progress, and other pertinent issues
• Manage and direct all business activities and operations through the staff of CADC. Ensure that direct reports and all staff of CADC receive appropriate and timely performance management. Ensure development of resources and training to support employees’ productivity and objectives
• Represent and market CADC in the areas of regional economic development and infrastructure development
• Provide support and direction to the BOD in strategic planning and policy development initiatives. Identify alternatives for the BOD’s consideration
• Prepare draft policy statements for the BOD’s consideration and submit program, budget, or project plans for BOD’s consideration
• Act as a resource to the Board Development Committee and the Board Finance Committee
• Act as CADC’s official spokesperson on media public relations issues, as directed by the BOD chair, as the BOD Chair is the lead contact unless deferred by the BOD Chair to the CEO

Education and Experience

The preferred candidate will possess the following competencies:

• Minimum of five years of experience in a senior management position
• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a relevant discipline
• Minimum of five years experience developing and managing budgets
• Senior experience with board governance
• Exceptional negotiation skills
• Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions
• Excellent relationship skills and business acumen
• Ability to inspire confidence and create trust
• Ability to work under pressure with multiple stakeholders, projects, and budgets
• Experience managing staff
