Industrial Millwright Apprentice Opportunity 

 

The Millwright Apprentice will be responsible for maintaining the equipment in all areas of the facility.  This individual is to perform a variety of skilled maintenance. The main responsibility will be to provide technical support and assistance to the operations and management team whenever required. The individual will work closely with operations, quality, as well as the health and safety department to collaboratively make continual improvements in day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting equipment
  • Routine lubrication of equipment
  • Ordering maintenance supplies/ parts
  • Following preventative maintenance program for equipment & facility
  • Ensure company safety policies are adhered to and safe work habits are utilized by all department personnel and visitors.
  • Repair and maintain, in accordance with local codes, diagrams, sketches, engineering drawings, manuals and manufacturer's specifications, such as motors, conveyors, boilers, compressors, production equipment and other related machinery
  • Assisting with equipment installations
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safety of maintenance shop and facility
  • Operation of forklift (experience and/ or forklift operator certificate required)
  • Shift work required
  • Overtime when required

Qualifications

  • One to two years experience is an asset
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Willing to work shift work
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Self-starter with a strong initiative
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Able to work in a team and to handle priorities under pressure
  • Mechanical maintenance experience is necessary and preferably currently working towards a millwright apprentice
  • Strong understanding and conscious of safe work practices
  • Available to attend schooling and attain Journeyperson certification within a specified time period
  • Must be able to communicate in both written and spoken English

Education and Certification

  • Required: High School Diploma
  • Good to have: Registered Training Agreement in 433A Industrial Millwright
