Job Description:


HHB has several bridge investigation, monitoring, design and construction projects planned for the next 3-5 years and is seeking a Bridge Inspector/Construction Supervisor to assist the bridge engineers with the bridge inspection, construction supervision, project management and contract administration. 


The successful candidate’s duties include, but not the least,

  • bridge inspections,
  • implement bridge inspection program,
  • construction supervision and management,
  • interpreting drawings and contract specifications,
  • prepare, review and tracking schedule
  • Quantity take-off and cost estimates 
  • safety audits,
  • report writing,
  • day-to-day liaison with contractors, consultants,
  • Project Coordination
  • attend job meetings, record keeping and reporting,
  • review of shop drawings and check engineering compliance
  • Contract Administration




The successful candidate will have completed a related trade or technical training on an applicable field plus minimum 5 years of related experience after course completion. Acceptable trades and/or education include Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Certified Engineering Technician (CTech) Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.)/EIT, or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.Sc.).

  • Candidate must be eligible to work in Nova Scotia, Canada
  • Candidate must be registered or eligible to register with applicable professional association, in the Province of Nova Scotia
  • Candidate must have sound knowledge on building and bridge structural system
  • Candidate must be mature and professional, capable of working with minimal supervision and motivated to learn from their experiences.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) acts and regulations.
  • Candidate must possess good problem solving skills using standard engineering methods
  • Candidate must be capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously, and have good time management skills.
  • Candidate must have experience on bridge inspection, construction supervision and management, and dealing with contractors and/or consultants.
  • Candidate must be capable and willing to work at height, in confined spaces, in all weather conditions, and outside regular business hours on occasion.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, AutoCad, and MS Project)
  • Minimum Class 5 driver’s license

 his is Full Time – Term position for 36 months with potential for extension, working 8:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. (35 hours a week) Monday to Friday. Overtime may be required based on operational demands, including weekends and holidays.
