Welcome To Johns Nursery Landscape & Garden Centre - Applying For The Crew Leader/Foreperson Position

We are seeking skilled and self-motivated individuals who have a genuine interest in landscape construction and who take pride in their work. In addition to having a passion for landscaping, candidates must have proven abilities as a team member participating in the construction of residential projects. Responsibilities will include all aspects of hard and soft landscape construction.

• Thorough knowledge of landscape construction techniques with the ability to build landscape designs with minimal supervision

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physical ability to lift 30-50lbs and bend, kneel and lift repeatedly
• Safety training and formal landscape training (e.g. CHT, ICPI) would be an asset
• Completely understands all aspects of landscaping in order to communicate effectively with clients, crew, and suppliers

Job Duties

• Landscape layout
• Landscape planting including large trees, perennials and shrubs
• Install all materials to create stunning landscapes
• Install paver patio and walkway stone, block retaining walls, Armour stone retaining walls, flagstone patios
• Install base and screeding
• Lay and align stones according to construction plans and specifications
• Cut and shape materials using abrasive saw and power grinders
• Perform various other tasks as required on-site, e.g. operate machinery like skid steers, excavators, stone saws

Required Skills

• Solid understanding of masonry/bricklaying techniques
• Experience working with all types of natural stone, concrete block, bricks and pavers
• Extensive experience in installing paver patios, walkways, Armour stone and steps
• Great attention to detail and precision
• Ability to operate masonry equipment to cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specifications using hand and power tools
• Effectively able to read sketches and blueprints to complete jobs
• Valid drivers license
• Skills to perform all of the above in a safe, efficient and compliant manner
