Reporting to the General Manager, the Human Resources Manager (Generalist) will have the opportunity to define, shape and evaluate the human resources potential of the organization as you identify and service the ongoing needs of the diverse business.  If you are someone who has broad and general HR skills and experience, commensurate with your time in the field, and are one who engages, empowers, and provides a people-centred approach to work, then we want to hear from you!

This part-time position will be working shorter days or fewer days per week, but the work schedule is negotiable for the right person (minimum of 21 hours per week).

With our continuous evolution, we are currently looking for a permanent part time Human Resource Manager who is an HR Generalist working a hybrid work schedule based out of our Dartmouth, NS office (a mix of remote and onsite).

What you’ll be doing will include the following (as and when required):

  • Supporting all aspects of the recruitment process including constructing up to date job descriptions and postings, pre-screening resumes, arranging and/or conducting interviews, executing background and reference checks and crafting offer letters.
  • Managing the on-boarding and off-boarding processes such as, gathering or developing necessary on-boarding documentation, supporting the development of the on-boarding schedule, drafting letters conducting exit interviews, and processing paperwork.

  • Assisting in HR inquiries, understanding standards, counseling and coaching managers in the application of such and educating employees in expectations and behaviour.

  • Developing and rolling out policies and procedures and managing all applicable provincial workplace safety and compensation board requirements, forms and overseeing the return to work programs.

  • Supporting the review of compensation and benefit programs; working with the payroll administrator for changes to compensation and benefits packages for employees.

  • Assisting with the ongoing performance assessment and improvement programs, including discipline and exiting processes as and when required.

  • Utilizing the HRIS (Dayforce) to keep up to date employee information and to promote the use of employee self-service.

  • Carrying out various HR projects and initiatives in alignment with company goals, keeping up to date on new HR initiatives and legislative changes and recommend any internal changes if and as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Education: Success completion of post-secondary education with a concentration in Human Resources.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or working towards a designation would be considered an asset.
  • Work Experience: a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a human resources generalist role or equivalent level position in human resources.
  • Experience in recruiting, managing full-cycle recruitment and candidate sourcing using social media and other methods.
  • Experience in administering and enhancing performance appraisal, personal improvement and discipline policies and processes.
  • Technologically inclined, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, and adept at learning new systems.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional time management and organizational skills coupled with proven ability to work well in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
  • Highly effective and articulate communication skills.
  • Organized self-starter who works effectively with minimal supervision and a high level of accountability.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and provide proof of full vaccination.
