Reporting to the Operations Director, a Horticultural Technician at Nicola's Garden Art Inc. will learn the skills required to advance by gaining experience in all three divisions of the company: Design, Build and Maintain. Must have valid license.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for managing landscaping projects
Survey and assess designated projects and jobsites
Responsible for constructing and maintaining gardens
Plan job in an effective manner to ensure optimum job efficiency and effectiveness
Use and operate tools and equipment used in horticulture§ Plant seeds and transplant seedlings§ Tree, shrub, and plant examination and treatment
Care for growing plants by watering, pruning, weeding, cultivating, and removing dead or damaged leaf tissue
Inspect, handle, and transport nursery stock
Spread top soil and lay sod§ Plant fertilization and watering
Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges
General lawn and garden maintenance
Operate power mowers, push mowers, tractors, electric clippers, pruning saws and other landscape maintenance equipment
Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments , shop + equipment
Assist with landscape constructions when needed
Complete daily paperwork tracking job time and material costs
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
Comply with all company policies and regulations
Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner

Qualifications & Required Skills

2+ years Landscaping experience required or 3 years experience in construction as an equivalent
High school diploma, collage diploma an asset
Love the outdoors and eager to learn
Eye for detail, great attitude, and a customer-first approach
Effective communication skills
Valid and clean drivers license
