Landscape (Softscape) Foreperson
Summary
The Landscape Foreperson is responsible for leading a team in the construction of softscape installations at residential and commercial properties to the highest quality.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
5+ years of landscape/softscape experience
Completion of relevant post-secondary education/certificates considered an asset
Must have G class license, clean driving abstract and be 25+ years of age as per insurance requirements
Experience
In installing softscape projects in residential and commercial properties
In communicating with customers, staff, suppliers, and other individuals as required
In planting and maintaining plant products including edging, gardening, pruning and sod installation
In plant knowledge including annuals, perennials, blubs, shrubs, tress and other related products
Responsibilities
Install softscape projects at residential and commercial properties to the highest quality
Able to assess design needs of customers and drawings and install accordingly
Communicate with customers in a polite manner and address any questions or concerns that arise during the entirety of the project.
Complete daily paperwork including equipment and vehicle checklists, work orders, and other required paperwork and documents.
Train, supervise and motivate a team of 2-3 landscape labourers
Ensure all work is completed in a safe and timely manner
Work cooperatively in a team environment
Operate various tools and equipment in a safe manner including, heavy equipment such as skid steers and mini excavators, stone saws, plate tampers and other small hand tools.
Calculate, order, and track all required materials.
Efforts / Working Conditions
This position requires you to work outside in varying weather conditions including rain and hot and cold temperatures.
Length of employment from April to December annually. The foreperson is expected to work 10-hour shifts Monday to Friday during this period.
Employees must wear CSA approved steel toed boots
Digging with a shovel, kneeling, bending and lifting for extended periods of time.
