The Role:

PRAXES is in search of a Business Development Manager to work from our Halifax, Nova Scotia office. The successful applicant will lead the Business Development activities, which include the following: 

  • Create business development strategy and plans:
    • Help to shape the company’s long-term objectives; determine and execute plans to meet business development objectives. (Note that PRAXES uses the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) methodology for tracking activities and results)
    • Manage the overall business development strategy.
    • Track emerging markets and trends.
    • Research and identify new markets.
  • Develop systems and processes for:
    • Lead generation
    • Sales
    • Marketing
    • Customer support
  • Manage and support our partners:
    • Evaluate existing partnerships and sales efforts with a focus on developing what works and changing what doesn’t.
    • Propose and develop strategic partnerships.
    • Support partners by setting sales targets, developing marketing materials, cross promotions, etc.
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable internal and external team members:
    • Inside sales and marketing
    • Customer support
    • Key account management
  • Support the sales and marketing activities:
    • Help to plan sales campaigns.
    • Carry out sales forecasts.
    • Review company sales performance, successes, and pitfalls with senior leadership during quarterly business reviews.
    • Develop and maintain a sales pipeline.
    • Increase sales for partners.
    • Fulfill requests for proposals (RFPs) from potential partners and customers.
    • Recommend website changes as needed.
    • Work with other team members to generate appropriate content for brochures, blogs, newsletters, and other marketing materials.  
  • Assist with product development:
    • Identify and recommend new services.
    • Provide advice on product development and potential marketing strategies.
    • Help direct development of customer-facing web platforms and digital experiences.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent presentation, writing, and communication; ability to communicate accessibly and concisely about product or service to outsiders, including prospective customers and clients, partners, vendors, and media outlets.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and other sales technology and platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service oriented.
  • Financial, market research, and analytical skills.
  • Leadership, management, and mentoring skills.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Masters in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of sales or marketing experience.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience.

Work Hours & Benefits

  • Full time hours with base salary of $65,000 per year.
