Welcome To Confederation Freezers - Applying For The Maintenance Coordinator Position

The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the upkeep of the Processing Facility in Hamilton assisting in all areas of equipment maintenance and other duties as assigned related to their role. They will also assist the Maintenance Supervisor with supporting and overseeing the activities and success of the Maintenance Department.

Position type: Hourly – Range: based on skills, evaluation, and experience

Environment: Meat Production/Processing

Regular Hours: 8 hours per day. Working hours between 7:30 AM – 12:00 AM. Weekend days may be required. Hours may vary as per workload. Overtime paid as per labour regulations.

Accountabilities and Detailed Activity

Equipment Routine Maintenance

• Build, design, assemble, and debug new equipment.

• Maintain the mechanical and electrical components in a food processing component assembly line, build, machine, and debug new equipment for future business.

• Electrical systems installation to 480 VAC.

• Pneumatic, Hydraulic and systems maintenance.

• Operation of Tool Room Equipment (I.E. Lathes, Grinders, Welding & Fabricating, Bridgeport Drill Press, torches Etc.).

Maintenance Plan Development & Implementation

• Developing new maintenance plans and implementing them.

• Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work as per forecasted workloads.

Maintenance Team Performance

• Supervise and train workers.

• Coordinate daily meetings with production for maintenance activities.

• Establish strategies to meet workload demands on time.

Safety Protocol & Compliance

• Ensuring food safety standards are consistently met.

• Establishing protocols for non-mechanical maintenance.

• Assessing procedures and making recommendations for improvement.

• Inspect sites regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance.

• Maintain all inventory and equipment and ensure proper storage.

• Comply with all health and safety regulations and practices on site.

• Conduct safety inspections as scheduled. Preventative Maintenance

• Oversee all repairs and ensure that work is completed on time.

• Conduct preventative maintenance work and maintenance records.

• Conduct follow-ups on all maintenance and repair work. Equipment Routine Maintenance

• Keeping track of supply and material inventories.

• Updating maintenance logs for all machinery.

• Ensuring basic tools and machinery are in working order by performing regular inspections

Minimum Requirements

Education and/or Professional Designation:

• Relevant licenses and certificates may be required.

• Courses in mechanical drawing, electricity, and blueprint reading is a plus

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of experience and education.

• Degree in facilities or industrial maintenance and/or technology or a related field.


• Minimum 1 year in Maintenance preferably in a food production environment Or in Assembly, Manufacturing and Equipment Maintenance.

• Previous supervisory experience is considered an asset

Language Skills:

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.

• Fluent in English.

Technical Skills:

• Computer literacy: intermediate level spreadsheets, word processing, statistics, and Applications.

• Good mathematical skills.

• Knowledge of safe food handling, GMPs, food plant sanitation, HACCP.

• Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.).

• Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations.

• Mechanical repair experience and aptitude is a must.

• Control system experience is a plus. • Ability to Read and Interpret Blueprints and Electrical Schematics
