Landscape/Construction Foreman

Reports to Project Manager

Pay $30.00-35.00/hr

SUMMARY

Responsible for the day to day oversight and implementation of landscape contracts. Reports to Project Manager/Operator. Directs and coordinates all project related activities under indirect supervision. 

Projects include interlock paving, woodwork, masonry work, planting and landscape light installation. Working in tandem with sub trades such as electrician, metal workers and irrigation contractors. 

This position requires record keeping, time tracking and material management onsite, as well as scheduling deliveries. Open communication, mutual respect in all aspects while working towards building a high quality product under safe working conditions is required. 

DUTIES 

Observe and promote company safety policies.

Work in tandem with Project Manager in review of the site prior to construction.

Perform site layout as per landscape construction contracts.

Execution of landscape construction of contract including material management.

Ensure required tools are at site to perform effective efficient construction.

Manage/ instruct/mentor crew.

Clean-up of site/tools at the end of day. 

Use appropriate PPE (Personal protective equipment)

Coordinate with Project Manager any necessary change orders on site.

Inform Project Manager of faulty or tagged out equipment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

4-5 years in the industry. (Preferably in a foreman capacity)

Able to interpret and implement scaled drawings and elevations.

Possess valid G license. Drive a company truck or cube van.

Time management, communication skills with excellent customer service.

Ability to use small engine tools such as plate tamper and concrete saw.

Knowledge and skills in the majority of the following- Cordless power tools, Chop saw, Table saw, Compressor, Transit.

Operation of small construction equipment ie; mini excavator/skid steer. 

Equipment maintenance skills.

Familiarity of applicable Ontario building codes within the scope of landscape construction.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

Work is outdoors typically from March to December, Proper outerwear for current climate conditions is essential for both the safety and performance of the employee.

Certain aspects of the job are physically demanding and repetitive. Employees should be in good physical health and free from any sort of chronic pain in which continuous physical activity will aggravate any conditions.

 

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

Contracts are affected by the weather, a typical workday is ~8-10hrs  per day, Mon-Fri. 

During Jan/Feb employees may not have work.  Interior construction may be available.
