Generate sales by advising customers on selection of plants, shrubs and trees; methods of planting and cultivation; and proper care. Assess inventory of stock and advise supervisor of new stock requirements. Organize the display of plants, shrubs and trees for optimal display attractiveness.

Responsibilities include:

  1. a) Customer Service and Sales:

               - providing information and recommendations.

               - processing and invoicing of purchases

               - communication and general public relations.

  1. b) Garden Center Maintenance and Appearance:

               - organizing, weeding, pruning, watering of plants.

               - maintaining general cleanliness/ tidiness of selling lot and store area.

               - signage, tagging, and pricing.

  1. c) Assisting in Other Related Activities as Required.


  1. a) A positive work ethic and attitude and a willingness to learn are essential.
  2. b) Good working knowledge of ornamental horticulture applicable to Alberta, including plant identification, biology and landscape design. This is an asset but                  not required.
  3. c) Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
  4. d) The ability to take responsibility and work with a minimum of supervision.
  5. e) Good physical condition and mindful of personal appearance.
  6. f) Those who are presently enrolled in or have completed the Landscape Horticulturist Apprenticeship Program or other post-secondary horticultural programs are encouraged to apply.
