Arborist Assistant Job Description:

The arborist assistant is responsible for assisting the lead arborist in all aspects of the operations of the tree care group at Murray's Landscape Services.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Care and maintenance of trees and woody shrubs,
• Execute all types of pruning activities as assigned.
• Carry out the range of arboriculture related work including:
  • Pruning of trees and shrubs
  • Repair of damaged trees
  • Fertilization of trees and shrubs
  • Installation or transplanting of large trees
  • Executing all work in a safe manner.
  • Maintaining the truck and all other equipment used in the performance of the work.
  • Ensure all persons working on site are using appropriate PPE.
  • Perform all other landscape services as assigned.

Skills:

• Willingness to learn a new skill and be a team player. 
• Willingness to learn arborist pruning techniques including chainsaw use, tree climbings skills and learn how to safely complete full tree take downs under the supervision of a lead arborist
• Ability to lift 50bs 
• Abiliity to work safely on all aspects of the job,
• previous arborist experience an asset but not required
• Experience using a chainsaw and handsaw,
• Experience using a woodchipper, as asset but not required.
• Familiar with all aspects of safely working in trees and around safety hazards such as power lines.

Qualifications: 

• Valid driver’s license
