Support Ontario Youth’s Skilled Development Team, in partnership with their funder, The Ministry of Labour, Government of Ontario, is offering a one-day bootcamp in communities impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. This is a FREE one-day training opportunity during which you will learn more about the Motive Power/Transportation Field, and the apprenticeship process. The event includes a complimentary lunch, a free apprenticeship starter tool kit, and an opportunity to network with employers.
To be eligible for this free one-day training opportunity you must be:
· A minimum of 18+ years old
· A Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
· Have a strong interest in Motive Power/Transportation
Support Ontario Youth, Tools in the Trades is designed specifically for recent high school and/or College graduates, or adults looking to retrain in a new career. This one-day bootcamp experience will afford you the opportunity to gain hands on tool experience with qualified instructors from the Motive Power/Transportation Field. You will also learn essential employability skills including workplace etiquette, resume writing, interviewing skills, networking, and financial planning. Each participant will receive a free apprenticeship starter tool kit valued at $250.00. The bootcamp specifically will focus on those who may have lost employment during the Pandemic, as well as those who are looking to start a new career in a growing industry which is lacking in skilled trades persons. The one-day program is open to all Canadians. Those who are newcomers, women, and/or BIPOC, are strongly encouraged to apply!
Employers from the area, as well as Support Ontario Youth Staff, will be onsite to answer questions and offer guidance and assistance in the apprenticeship process. Opportunities may even be available for some to sign on as an apprentice, on the day of the event.
