Summary:  The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safety and security of our patrons, staff, and premises. As the first point of contact for guests, the Front Door and Security personnel should possess exceptional customer service skills and maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times. All duties and responsibilities performed must uphold the Denim Hospitality’s vision, culture, policies, procedures and standards. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Know and demonstrate through your actions the Denim Hospitality mission of “feel like family while you’re our guest.”
  • Ensure your behaviors reflects Denim Hospitality’s values of intentionality, authenticity, craft, anticipatory hospitality, responsibility, connection and care both through personal demonstration as well as weaving it into the culture of the restaurant.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service, adhering to Denim Hospitality service standards and policies, acting guest first.
  • Maintain a visible presence at the front entrance, welcoming guests and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Verify identification and enforce age restrictions to ensure compliance with legal drinking age regulations.
  • Monitor and control access to the premises, ensuring the safety and security of all guests and staff.
  • Conduct thorough bag checks and visual checks to prevent the entry of prohibited items or weapons.
  • Manage and document guest lists for private events or special occasions.
  • Monitor and enforce code of conduct policies to maintain a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all guests.
  • Respond promptly to any disturbances, altercations, or incidents that may arise, diffusing conflicts and ensuring the safety of all individuals involved.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with internal staff members, including bartenders, servers, and management, to address any security concerns or issues.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies when necessary, providing accurate and timely information regarding incidents or emergencies.
  • Stay updated on relevant local laws, regulations, and best practices related to security and safety procedures.
  • Regularly inspect the premises for any potential security risks or hazards, reporting findings to management and taking appropriate action to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to identify and address any potential security breaches or suspicious activities.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the emergency procedures and protocols, ensuring swift and efficient response in case of emergencies or evacuations.
  • Attend regular training sessions or workshops to enhance knowledge of security techniques, customer service skills, and legal obligations.
  • Serve as a role model when serving guests and interacting with employees by maintaining a positive, upbeat, and energetic attitude; taking a proactive approach to teamwork and problem-solving; and remaining aware of your role in the larger picture of the guest experience.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and team members in compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   

 

Age: Must be over 21 years old.

Experience:  Proven experience in a security or similar role is preferred. 

 

Certificates and Licenses:  Valid Security Certification, License, or training is preferred. First Aid/CPR Certification is preferred.

 

Competencies:  Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with diverse individuals. Excellent observational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to remain calm, composed, and decisive in high-pressure situations. Sound knowledge of security protocols, emergency procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods and handling any necessary physical interventions.

 

Language Skills:   Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOP's and instructions; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers. Exceptional verbal communication skills with the ability to diffuse conflicts and maintain a peaceful environment.

 

Computer Skills:    Basic computer literacy to operate surveillance systems and access relevant information.

 

Reasoning Ability:   Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; to deal with problems involving a several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Identifies problems, gathers information, and offers solutions. 

 

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

 

The physical demands and work environment described below represent the activities and surroundings of the positions.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

This position is performed inside and outside a restaurant/bar environment. Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods and handling any necessary physical interventions. May also require some reaching, bending, squatting, and lifting a minimum of 50lbs. Repetitive use of hands and simple grasping with hands required. Some exposure to chemicals, fire, gases, and odors.
