Maintenance Supervisor

Our Hantsport, Nova Scotia location is looking to hire a Maintenance Supervisor to provide support within our Hantsport Operations.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join an amazing team where you will be an integral part of the operations team leading a group of Millwrights.  Reporting to the Maintenance Department, the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

 

  • Develops and maintains an organized and efficient millwright shop.
  • Oversees scheduling of millwright staff on a continuous basis to increase up-time.
  • Works with Lead Hands and tradespersons to set & ensure expectations & accountability.
  • Works with operations group to identify and ensure equipment and parts required for jobs are readily available to maximize efficiency.
  • Monitors downtime for recurring maintenance issues, proposes solutions for improvement.
  • Supports the PM Coordinator to improve the predictive/preventative maintenance program.
  • Works with Maintenance Manager to ensure interdisciplinary cooperation.
  • Works with Maintenance Engineer on planning of larger projects.
  • Develops improved communication across shifts & jobs through the use of computerized logging system, memos and/or SOPs.
  • Periodically provides toolbox talks to the maintenance & electrical groups.
  • Sets and maintains high standards.
  • Controls and improves maintenance spend.
  • Uses lean methodologies for improvements.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) and/or Mechanical/Electrical degree (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity of Provincial Occupational Health and Safety legislation and safety best practices.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional Time management with the ability to excel in a demanding, high-pace environment, highly detail-oriented and flexible to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), with special focus on client service and highest degree of professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Strong team player with a high level of personal integrity
  • Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office.
