We are seeking a Landscape and Horticulture Technician/Specialist to join our team. This full-time role will ensure our landscapes are meticulously designed, maintained, and creatively decorated for various events, particularly weddings and group gatherings, against the stunning backdrop of Okanagan Lake.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Support landscape architects in evaluating sites, creating drawings, and aiding in designing landscaped areas.
• Create and maintain landscapes for both long term landscaping and short-term events.
• Build various landscape structures such as trees, shrubberies, lawns, fences, decks, and patios.
• Check trees and shrubs for issues, diagnose problems, and apply treatments like pruning, spraying, and injections.
• Utilize skills in ornamentation and creative plant decoration to transform landscapes for different events, ensuring a unique and captivating atmosphere.
• Manage and maintain indoor plant cultivation, ensure optimal growth conditions through regulating temperature, light, and humidity, monitor plant health and growth cycles during winter months.
• Conduct research on new plant varieties, cultivation techniques, and sustainable practices.
• Perform equipment maintenance and ensure tools are in prime condition for upcoming tasks.
• Conduct soil testing and prepare garden beds for seasonal changes.
• Coordinate with suppliers to secure necessary materials and plants for future projects.
• Collaborate with specialists to apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides.

 

Employment Requirements:

• College diploma with a strong interest in landscape and horticulture.
• Minimum 3 years of previous experience as a landscaper, horticulture technician,arborist or in a related field.
• Client-focused with a dedication to meeting the unique landscape needs for events and gatherings.
• Creativity in plant decoration and ornamentation for event landscapes.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within a team.
• Flexibility, organizational skills, and reliability in managing changing landscapes.
