Urban Garden is an established Design, Build, Planting and Maintenance company specializing in condominiums, commercial properties, parks, and streetscapes in the central and downtown Toronto area.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, hard-working individuals with a passion for landscaping to join our collaborative and positive team.

            JOB TITLE - LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN – CREW MEMBER

PLANTING & MAINTENANCE DIVISION - 2024 SEASON

$19– $22/hour - dependent on experience

 

Full-time seasonal position: Approximately 50 hours per week

Work Week: Monday – Friday (some mandatory Saturdays)

Regular Season: April through to December

 

 Reports to:  Crew Lead, DPM Manager(s)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Landscape Maintenance of various properties (commercial and residential).
  • Installation of decorative planting designs, and arrangements in beds and containers.
  • Softscape landscaping; loading, delivery and transport of nursery stock, planting, transplanting, reading and carrying out planting plans for designated projects.
  • Specific maintenance responsibilities include: turf management, bed and plant material care, mulch and soil applications, pruning, weeding, cultivating, watering, debris clean up and disposal - with the administration of organic / sustainable land care practices.
  • Use and operate landscape maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Watering and care of various plant displays throughout the city and plant material held at the company’s shop. This includes carrying out the watering schedule in a watering truck.
  • Work under the supervision of crew lead and /or manager: work in a cooperative, team-oriented environment with the ability to adapt to the physical demands, and quick pace of the position.
  • Work outdoors in various conditions with flexible availability.
  • Valid “G” drivers’ License (mandatory) with a clean driver abstract, including the ability to drive and navigate larger vehicles throughout the downtown core.
  • Be reliable and carry out duties as outlined in the UG Employee Handbook.
  • Communicate any concerns and/or requests to crew lead or manager.

Looking for individuals who:

  • Enjoy and thrive within a fast paced (and sometimes stressful!) environment,
  • Have Landscape & Horticulture education, training and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Have experience with seasonal decorative planting
  • Have a familiarity with landscape maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Are self motivated, punctual, and have a positive work
