School Overview:
Rooted School Las Vegas exists to accelerate upward mobility for underserved youth in Las Vegas, NV. The fourth in a national network of high-achieving schools, RSLV will bring an innovative education model to Clark County with the support of a national backbone organization, Rooted School Foundation.
Rooted’s goal is that all RSLV students graduate from high school with a job offer in one hand and a college acceptance letter in the other. Rooted’s student-centered model provides scholars with self-directed learning pathways, project-based learning, and industry-based internships and credentials to help them achieve academic success and prepare for a high-paying career.
Opening its doors in 2024, RSLV will serve 360 students annually when all grades are filled. 66% of students are projected to be from low-Income families, 43% are projected to be Latinx students, and the school anticipates serving students receiving ELL services (14%).
Overview of the Role:
In your role, you will be a lead executor of our Science curriculum and work directly with our Founding School Leader, Board, and other members of our statewide and national network to help spearhead Rooted School’s launch in Las Vegas, NV.
As our Founding Science Teacher, you will work in step with our instructional team to fulfill our school-wide vision for high school students and execute the curriculum to bring that vision to reality.
Above all, you will help us determine how we will fulfill the Rooted Promise. This will not be easy. Many will say we cannot do it. I hope you’ll join us anyway.

Areas of Responsibility Include (but are not limited to):
- Creating, refining, + maintaining the Science curriculum at Rooted School
- Collaborating with other content area teachers to design cross-curricular projects and emphasize targeted soft skills across the curriculum
- Meticulously monitor student data, provide frequent feedback, and targeted student support in response to data
- Consistently implement and execute student interventions with flexible grouping
- Execute Rooted’s hybrid academic model with fidelity and consistency
- Actively establishing Rooted's culture among students, partners, and the community-at-large
Qualifications:
- Experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds with a commitment to valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- A completed post-baccalaureate secondary teacher certification and/or a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Science discipline
- Valid Nevada State Teaching Certificate, or can obtain a Nevada State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement
- Knowledge of academic coursework to be taught and teaching methods for the 21st-century classroom
- Experience in developmentally appropriate practices, curriculum adaptation, the use of higher-level thinking skills, knowledge of differing learning styles and alternative assessment techniques
- Experience with and analyses of state, local, and teacher-developed assessments
- Bilingual preferred
