Position Overview

A tire technician is generally responsible for dismounting, mounting , Repairing and balancing tires.

Tire technicians gather information, prepare vehicles, inspect and diagnose vehicles, repair or replace rims and tires, reinstall and test rims and tires and complete work orders.

General Maintenance includes Oil Changes, minor Mechanical Work and Rust Proofing.

 

 

Education and Credentials

  •  High School diploma or equivalent an asset
  •  Valid Driver’s License
  •  Candidates may be expected to lift weights up to 50 lbs.
  •  Training is primarily on-the-job or online.
  • Experience is not required but is considered an asset.

Tasks and Duties

  • Talking to the customer and service staff about any issues they are experiencing.
  • Inspecting and assessing tire tread levels, wear patterns, valve quality, and overall health.
  • Recommending appropriate repair treatment or replacement of tires.
  • Repairing punctures and replacing faulty valves.
  • Installing new tires.
  • Balancing tires.
  • Studding tires for snow use.
  • Conducting inventory and maintaining equipment.
  • Oil Changes and Related work.
  • Rust Proofing Automobiles and Trucks.

Job Requirements and Regulations

  •  Valid Driver’s License
  •  Candidates may be expected to lift weights up to 50lbs.
