Welcome To Courtland Landscape & Grounds - Applying For The Crew Member/Labourer Position

Courtland is looking for a Landscape Maintenance Crew Member, with 1 to 2 years industry experience, to join our Team in Thorold, Ontario. The qualified candidates must have a passion for horticulture and working outdoors; and be able to carry out a variety of manual labour duties.

This position is full time seasonal from the date of hire to October 31, 2024 with the possibility of year-round employment.

Hourly Wage Range: $21-$25/hr depending on experience

Major Responsibilities:

• Daily grounds and landscape maintenance of industrial properties
• Operate various pieces of equipment including but not limited to skid steers, push mowers, walk-behind mowers, line or blade trimmers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, pruning saws, hedge trimmers and more
• Prune and trim trees and plants
• Cut lawn areas, trim edges, and clean up debris
• Weed, rake, and collect refuse, remove litter and garbage
• Cart and spread topsoil, mulch, gravel and other materials
• Lay sod or seed
• Plant bulbs, flowers, shrubs and trees
• Edge garden beds
• Fill potholes on gravel roads
• Assist in the construction of pathways, walkways, retaining walls, rock work, grading, etc.
• Load and unload all required tools and equipment from trucks and trailers
• Maintain clean and organized job sites, trucks, equipment, and shop/office area
• Perform basic daily maintenance of power equipment (grease, sharpen, clean, etc.)
• Perform general landscape duties (manually transport product, prep, install, plant)

Qualifications:

• Turf and Grounds / Garden maintenance / Landscape experience is required (1 to 2 years)
• Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean drivers history; experience towing a trailer is an asset
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the work site as it is not readily accessible by transit
• Must have an approachable personality and be able to work well with our team and clients
• Must be reliable, punctual, have a positive attitude, and be willing to learn
• Must have an eye for small details and be able to produce quality workmanship
• Work is conducted primarily outdoors in variable weather conditions on an industrial site and includes frequent exposure to weather elements, repetitive motions, and frequent standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, kneeling, crouching, uneven terrain, loud noise, vibration, etc.
• Must be able to frequently lift 50lbs
• Experience working with power tools such as a push mower, weed trimmer, pole saw, chainsaw, power trimmer, power aerator, pressure washer and a variety of landscape hand tools a plus
• Experience conducting routine maintenance and small repairs on power tools an asset
