Position Summary:

The Industrial Electrician will work as part of a team to install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and related equipment in a manufacturing environment. This individual will have the ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications to provide troubleshooting and repair services. The Industrial Electrician will also routinely perform preventative maintenance on all equipment and components in order to ensure the continued safe, efficient and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization.

The Maintenance Electrician is required to perform skilled tasks in the electrical and mechanical repair & maintenance of equipment.  The electrician must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble, and adjust both electrical and mechanical equipment and machinery to maintain it in efficient operating condition. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs.


Job Duties:

  • Install and wire electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems, following electrical code, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical problems in electrical systems, equipment, and machinery. Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices and techniques. Develop solutions to resolve electrical problems efficiently.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working on electrical systems. Ensure compliance with electrical codes and standards.
  • Interpret and follow electrical blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to determine the layout and wiring of electrical systems.
  • Operate a variety of electrical tools and equipment safely and effectively, including power drills, wire strippers, multimeters, and conduit benders.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients to understand project requirements, provide updates on work progress, and address any concerns or questions.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation, repairs, and maintenance activities. Complete necessary paperwork and documentation using CMMS as required.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of integrated electro-mechanical systems including pneumatic and complex hydraulic systems
  • Performing routine inspection and preventative maintenance tasks
  • Complete electrical aspects of new construction and maintenance related projects
  • Maintaining the work area in a clean and safety conscious manner
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs to equipment in order to ensure that the equipment is available, reliable and safe to operate.
  • Monitor parts usage and report on any materials issues.
  • Assist in ordering replacement equipment, parts and supplies.
  • Ensure that all work is performed according to pertinent GMP, HACCP, CFIA and all established regulations
  • Maintain safe working conditions and adheres to occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Perform in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Identify and report any hazard(s) in their workplace;
  • Report any accidents, injuries requiring first aid, health care, lost time injuries, occupational diseases or incidents;
  • Use equipment, materials, and machinery only as authorized;
  • Follow procedures and wear personal protective equipment as outlined in the health and safety manual.
  • Other electrical and mechanical work as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.


Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of college/vocational or technical training.
  • Red Seal Certification for 422A or 309A Licensed Electrician required.
  • 5 years’ experience as electrician preferred.
  • Experienced with working on Packaging Machines or any food processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, PLC, voltages, speed controls, AC and DC drives
  • Knowledge of PLC programming & HMI programming is an asset
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to work overtime on weekends, and some holidays.
