Purpose of Job: To assist the Marketing Coordinator with the development and implementation of a marketing and communications plan for SouthernTech that connects the purposes and philosophies of the technology center to the community-at-large and to potential clients, employees, students, and volunteers by making effective use of a variety of communication strategies all while ensuring brand integrity. To use innovation, imagination & originality to develop, design and create all marketing and promotional materials for SouthernTech.

I. Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities

A. Essential Functions of the Job:

1. Supports and promotes the Southern Tech adopted quality initiatives including the Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.
2. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
3. Supports and assists in the development and execution of the Southern Tech strategic plan.
4. Communicate effectively with Southern Tech customers/students/staff and answer questions or directs calls and social media inquiries to the appropriate person or responds independently in a timely manner.
5. Handle confidential and non-routine information.
6. Develop, design, produce and distribute all advertisements and promotional materials. Design, create and maintain digital advertisements and print publications to meet operational and marketing objectives on various media platforms. Examples of platforms may include print brochures, e-newsletters, direct mail, event posters, forms, letters, digital signage, web design, social media, e-mail marketing, paid media, and more.
7. Meet with team to design campaigns and timelines.
8. Uphold brand integrity in selection of colors, images, text style, and layout, incorporating changes recommended by supervisor into the final design. Utilize opportunities to communicate necessity of guidelines campus-wide.
9. Monitor campaign success and recommend strategic changes for optimal audience engagement across social media platforms, website ads, etc.
10. Review designs for errors prior to printing or publishing.
11. Print jobs as needed or provide finished copy to print vendors as determined by job.
12. Prioritize and execute multiple tasks and projects.
13. Assist supervisor with projects and maintain positive relationship with marketing and/or communication vendors. Projects may include, but are not limited to press releases, photographic and video images, school-wide events as well as community events.
14. Keeps well organized, shared calendar of events and campaigns to meet and predict internal and external deadlines.
15. Keeps inventories of publication and promotional asset materials.
16. Responsible for programming & updating SouthernTech outdoor digital displays, internal monitors and social media accounts.
17. Order, organize and maintain inventory of promotional products.
18. Meet work order requests in a timely manner and in collaboration with all departments. Communicate and provide feedback when needed.
19. Assist Marketing Coordinator at various school functions as required.
20. Develop, manage, and maintain website content to ensure accuracy, timeliness, accessibility, and alignment with organizational branding and communication goals.
21. Serve as content manager for the SouthernTech website including creating, edition, publishing, and removing content as needed.
22. Collaborate with departments to gather, update, and publish website content that supports programs, services, recruitment, and community engagement.
23. Ensure website functionality, user experience, and navigation are optimized; coordinate with IT or vendors to resolve issues and implement improvements.
24. Monitor and analyze website performance metrics to inform content strategy and improve user engagement.
25. Develop and execute a comprehensive social media content strategy aligned with organizational goals and marketing campaigns.
26. Create, schedule, publish, and manage content across all official social media platforms.
27. Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner, and escalate concerns when appropriate.
28. Analyze social media performance metrics and recommend strategic adjustments to increase engagement, reach, and audience growth.
29. Ensure all website and social media content adheres to brand standards, accessibility guidelines, and district policies.
30. Serve as Marketing Representative in the absence of the Marketing Coordinator:

a. Answering all Marketing and Communication calls
b. Respond to any questions in a timely manner
c. Review incoming work orders and prioritize
d. Other tasks that arise.

B. Other:

1. Perform other tasks and assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
2. Work with IT to update website, phones, and communication plans as related to new or updated messaging tools.

III. Education, Knowledge, Skill, & Experience Requirements:

A. Education and Experience:

1. Associates Degree in graphic design or related field required; Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or related field preferred. Related years of experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
2. Certification in Adobe Creative Suite required.
3. Computer Training – Career Tech Certificate preferred
3. A minimum of three years of experience or education in graphics, social media management or communications.
4. Ability to operate various types of printing or publishing equipment.
5. Photography and videography experience required.
6. Canva software skills preferred.


B. Knowledge and Skills:

1. Ability to effectively communicate in person and over the phone; foresee and implement the next step in customer service response.
2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers, students, and staff.
3. Working knowledge of computerized office programs.
4. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
5. Ability to use proper grammar in both spoken and written form and construct clear written communication that is understandable and consistent with the rules of English.

11. Strong attention to detail, organization, prioritization and time management skills; manages multiple ongoing projects in a team-focused collaborative environment.

6. Regularly lifts up to 25 lbs. (occasionally up to 50 lbs.).
7. Ability to bend and stoop.


V. Work Environment:

Primarily an office environment with moderate physical activity and exposure to various types of printing & publishing equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is moderate.
