JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Service Advisor
Reports To: Owner

Job Purpose
The Service Advisor serves as a crucial link between customers in need of tire and maintenance services and the technicians who will perform the work. This role requires someone with a solid understanding of automotive and mechanical systems, particularly in tire and basic vehicle maintenance. The Service Advisor must build strong relationships with customers, guiding them through the repair process and ensuring they receive top-notch service.

Responsibilities

Overall responsibilities include:

  • Greet customers upon arrival and gather detailed information about their vehicle, specifically related to tire and maintenance issues, creating accurate work orders.
  • Clearly explain the diagnostic process, necessary maintenance, and associated costs to customers, ensuring they understand and authorize the work.
  • Advise customers on the importance of regular maintenance, focusing on tire care, brake inspections, and other key services, while recommending appropriate service schedules based on manufacturer guidelines.
  • Keep customers informed of current promotions and services offered by the shop, including tire deals, seasonal maintenance packages, and preventative maintenance options.
  • Determine and order necessary parts for tire and maintenance services, as well as for specific customer requests.
  • Prepare detailed repair estimates for both internal and external customers, with a focus on tire-related services and routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Develop parts and labor estimates for each job, ensuring accurate and timely completion of service.
  • Communicate diagnostic test results clearly to customers, especially regarding tire conditions, alignment, and brake wear.
  • Perform basic diagnostic tests as needed to support the repair process.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by management.

  • Ability to follow and enforce all safety rules and guidelines, particularly those related to tire handling and vehicle maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as automotive technology or mechanical systems, is considered an asset.
  • Strong mechanical and automotive knowledge, particularly in tire services and basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and data entry, with experience using shop management software.
  • Previous experience in a tire and maintenance shop is highly preferred.
  • Ability to plan and keep detailed records of services performed.

Working Conditions

  • Long periods of standing and walking around the shop may be required.
  • Exposure to various temperatures and elements, both indoors and outdoors, is expected.
  • Working with tires and vehicle maintenance equipment, which may require moderate physical activity.
