430A Tool & Die Maker Apprentice Opportunity in Toronto

 

As a Tool & Die Maker Apprentice, your key responsibilities are:

  • Work Independently developing Metal Stamping Dies
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications of tools, dies, prototypes or models
  • Design & build forms, dies, gauges, jigs and fixtures.
  • Use of precision tools and equipment
  • Prepare templates and sketches, and determine work processes
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools
  • Position, secure, measure and work metal stock or castings to lay out for machining
  • Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to cut, turn, mill, plane, drill, bore, drill, bore, grind or otherwise shape work piece to prescribed dimensions and finish
  • Fit and assemble or disassemble parts using hand tools
  • Test completed tools, dies, jigs or fixtures for proper operation
  • May program CNC machine tools
  • Critical thinker with problem solving ability

 

Qualifications:

  • One to two years experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Wire EDM experience required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Able to work in a team and to handle priorities under pressure
  • Strong understanding and conscious of safe work practices
  • Already registered as an apprentice an asset but not required
  • Available to attend schooling and attain Journeyperson certification within a specified time period
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
