SLP is currently seeking a full-time Intake Specialist/Legal Assistant who will provide seniors with excellent customer care, perform duties with precision, and demonstrate attention to detail. This position is FSLA non-exempt, supporting the operation of a nonprofit legal assistance law firm serving senior clients, with five to seven staff attorneys.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: responding to incoming calls and online requests for information; scheduling appointments and providing reminders to clients; greeting and assisting clients in person; gathering demographic and contact information; assessing clients’ legal issues to discern area(s) of law and attorney assignment; opening case files; organizing, compiling and scanning documents into client case files; entering accurate case codes and notes into the case management system; providing notarization of documents if certified; and if bilingual, providing effective translating and interpreting, including legal concepts and terms in both languages.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of customer service experience. Nonprofit customer care, case management, and/or law firm experience is a plus. Key attributes for this position are: proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word and Outlook, competency with case management software, effective listening and communication, excellent customer service skills, and an eagerness to engage with the senior community. Bilingual candidates highly encouraged. The salary range for this position is $19 - $24 per hour, working 9.5 hours per day, Monday through Thursday.
