Our Hantsport, Nova Scotia location is looking to hire a Pipefitter1st Class to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of pipe systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair, and will work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Pipefitter 1st Class will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:
- Install, assemble, and repair piping systems, including valves, fittings, and fixtures.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine the layout of piping systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and other trades to ensure system efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance on piping systems to prevent leaks and ensure functionality.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Qualifications:
- Must hold Red Seal interprovincial Pipefitter certificate issued by Department of Labour.
- Completion of trades school program preferred.
- Five years recent and related experience in the pipefitting trade.
- Must be proficient in field fitting of piping systems. i.e. measuring for, creating material lists for, assembling and installing pipework in the field.
- Able to correctly select type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers according to job specifications.
- Experience with steam piping systems and familiarity with applicable regulations preferred.
- Must have mechanical experience working in an industrial environment.
- Familiar with the current Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as Company and government rules, policies and procedures, and regulations.
- Knowledge in the use of computers preferred.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of the maintenance team to ensure manufacturing equipment is running efficiently.
- Knowledge of the tools of the trade.
- Must be able to work 8 hour days (Monday to Friday); and, willing and able to work overtime, as required.
- General safety, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lock Out/Tag Out, and WHMIS training an asset.
