Our Hantsport, Nova Scotia location is looking to hire a part-time (4 days per week) Disability Case Manager to join our team and help manage disability claims. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Disability Case Manager will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

 

  • WCB, STD, and LTD Claims Administration:
    • Complete and submit all necessary forms for workplace accidents/illnesses before deadlines.
    • Process and submit claims for Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) as required.
  • Disability Case Management:
    • Oversee both work-related and non-work-related disabilities to facilitate early and safe returns to work.
    • Act as the primary liaison with WCB and insurance provider for active claims management.
    • Coordinate and attend worksite visits with occupational therapists to support safe reintegration.
    • Identify and update Job Safety Analyses (JSA) based on accident/incident statistics.
    • Collaborate with employees and supervisors to find suitable light-duty roles.
  • Communication with Health Care Providers:
    • Maintain active communication with health care providers and stakeholders regarding absence and disability management.
  • Salaried Absence Management:
    • Manage salaried disability claims in partnership with Absence Management Services with insurance provider.
  • Preventative Health and Wellness Strategies:
    • Develop and implement health and wellness strategies in collaboration with the Safety Specialist and HR team.
    • Coordinate programs such as annual flu shots, hearing tests, gym memberships, and healthy activities.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience in case management, claims processing, or HR.
  • Exceptional Time management with the ability to excel in a demanding, high-pace environment, highly detail-oriented and flexible to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), with special focus on client service and highest degree of professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Strong team player with a high level of personal integrity.
  • Exceptional technology skills, with proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office. Keyboarding skills are essential.
