CKF Inc. is a National Company with plants located in British Columbia, Ontario, Nova Scotia and the states of Iowa and Texas, manufacturing numerous types of food packaging.
Our Hantsport, Nova Scotia location is looking to hire a Manager of Group Consolidations and Customer Accounting. The role will oversee the consolidation of financial results and Customer Accounting (Trade Spend and Accounts Receivable) for a multi-plant manufacturing company, including operations in both Canada and the United States. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information, compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE), and the effective consolidation of financial results across multiple locations and legal entities. The Manager will work closely with the corporate finance team and will support strategic decision-making and financial planning.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the Manager of Group Consolidations & Customer Accounting will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Consolidation:
- Active involvement in the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data from all plant locations, including the US entities.
- Oversee the intercompany transactions, foreign currency translation, and eliminations during the consolidation process.
- Prepare financial reports for management, including variance analysis, key performance indicators (KPIs), and ad hoc reports.
- Accounting Operations:
- Supervise the Trade Spend and Accounts Receivable functions
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
- Manage the reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts
- Compliance & Taxation:
- Active involvement with external auditors for the annual audit and prepare necessary documentation and schedules for both Canadian and US operations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Canadian and US accounting standards
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, including Trade Spend and Accounts Receivable employees
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance team.
- Financial Systems & Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting and consolidation.
- Lead or support finance-related projects, including ERP system upgrades, financial system integrations, and process standardization across both legal entities.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial analysis and insights to management.
- Report and analyze weekly, monthly and year end projections
- Monitor actual performance against budgets, providing analysis and recommendations for corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Education: CPA designation, bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting,
- Consolidation in a multi-location manufacturing environment, with experience in both Canadian and US operations would be an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE). US GAAP would be an asset.
- Experience with financial systems and ERP software. Power BI would be an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including cross-border teams.
Work Environment:
- Occasional travel to plant locations in both Canada and the US.
