Canine Adventure Den is a dog daycare and pet hotel located on Industrial Avenue in Vancouver, BC. We are customer-centric, demanding, and fun. We have recently been acquired by Jet Pet and this is allowing us to grow our team and make improvements to our facility. Ideal experience for VOA or similar qualification.

We are looking for a full-time team member to work at Vancouver's largest doggie daycare! If you love animals, enjoy cleaning, are reliable and have a flexible schedule, we are looking for you!

We also board cats. Experience working with dogs is preferred. We have an average of 70 pets in attendance per day, so applicants should thrive in a high-energy and fast-paced environment.

We are open from 6:15am – 10:00pm, 7 days a week; Must be available to work a mix of weekends and midweek. Located near Main Street SkyTrain station.

  • Has and/or is willing to get Pet First aid certified (we cover costs)
  • VOA or similar qualification would be an asset

Job Responsibilities:

  • Customer service, handling any front desk duties while Manager is not present
  • Assist with managing the facility and giving clear feedback to the Manager, General Manager and Director of Operations
  • Sharing on-call duties with the Manager and Senior Team to ensure the facility and team are always supported in case of emergency
  • Prioritize day to day tasks
  • Handling customer complaints in a manner consistent with our values
  • Assisting in recruiting new team members
  • Creating training manuals and efficient work processes for the team
  • Training the team using the training manual and process training lists
  • Finding cover when a team member can not work a shift
  • Dealing with team issues and being open to accepting feedback and ideas for improvement
  • Accepting and giving clear, positive and constructive criticism
  • Organizing all supplies from suppliers (cleaning products, office supplies, food and more) when the Manager is not present. Consistently comparing prices for the best option.
  • Ensuring all procedures are followed 100% in accordance with Adventure Den Procedures, 100% of the time in the daily running of the facility (striving for excellence)
  • Assisting in developing, implementing and evaluating policies and procedures for the operation of the facility
  • Reading vaccine certificates and keeping an eye on all guests with routine health assessments
  • Overseeing behavior assessments with prospective guests/clients
  • Contacting owners who have pets that have failed an assessment, have been badly behaved while in the facility, or may need to be banned from future stays when Manager is not present
  • Making the decision on vet care (assisted by the Manager and/or Senior Team Member) when a client or emergency contact can not be reached
  • Ensure cleanliness at all times in the facility
  • Working with the Manager to ensure labour hours are kept at an optimal level
  • Working on marketing campaigns and initiatives to support the growth of The Den
  • Keeping social media content relevant and up to date, meeting deadlines for content submission
  • Reviewing sales numbers and reports weekly with the senior team
  • Being on call and available to team on a schedule with the Manager

Salary: $18-$21 per hour depending on experience
