We are searching for a Activity Programmer to join our team at the Inverary Manor in Inverness, Nova Scotia.

 

What we offer:

  • Hourly wage range: $19.33/hr wage for 600 hour probationary period, increasing to $19.66

About the Job

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Activity Director in providing programs designed to enhance the social, psychological, and spiritual life of the Residents of Inverary Manor. All responsibilities are to be approached in a spirit of teamwork, within and among departments, to ensure cooperation and completion in an efficient manner. Specific responsibilities are outlined below in the Key Result Areas. The incumbent of the position is to work under the direction of the Mission Statement, Values, Standards, Policies and Procedures and Resident-Centred Care Philosophy of the Inverary Manor.

 

WORK SHIFT:

The position of Activity Programmer requires flexibility in hours of work. The specific work schedule is established by the Activity Director in consultation with the Administrator and department staff. The work schedule is subject to change and will be advised in the usual manner. The work schedule can consist of days, evenings, some weekends and some holidays.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and facilitating individual and group activities.
  • Adapt activities to meet residents' needs and abilities.
  • Foster companionship and a positive atmosphere.
  • Support staff and volunteers in recreation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate resident activity records.
  • Assist in special events, outings, and daily engagement.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience in recreation, therapeutic activities, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt programs for residents’ diverse needs.
  • Comfortable working in a team-oriented, senior care environment.
  • Valid driver’s license (an asset).
