We are currently recruiting for the position of Camp Counsellor for our S.W.O.L.E.™ Summer Camp 2025. As part of the hiring process, you will be subjected to complete an online assessment which may be considered lengthy.

About One Voice One Team  

One Voice One Team Youth Leadership Organization is a non-profit and federally registered charity founded in 2008.  Our mission is empowering youth to utilize their extraordinary leadership skills and talents to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.  We do this by providing character-based leadership programs, workshops, assemblies and community service. With fun physical and cognitive activities, we introduce and emphasize positive values to enable youth to see beyond their circumstances and lead with purpose. 

 

Position Description 

As a Camp Counsellor you will be responsible for the overall delivery and organization of summer camp to ensure participants have a fun educational camp experience based on the S.W.O.L.E.™ principles. Additionally, you will provide exceptional ideas to enhance programming/activities during camp. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Experience working with and leading children and/or youth 
  • Ability to maintain high energy and be physically active throughout the day  
  • Being mindful of details and opportunities to connect with children and/or youth 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and teamwork abilities 
  • Open to receiving and delivering constructive feedback 
  • Strong sense of self-accountability 
  • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain one) 
  • Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (Age 18+) 

 

Tasks & Responsibilities 

Program Activities: 

  • Providing input for summer camp program agenda 
  • Participating in daily debriefing meetings to ensure programming excellence 
  • Actively leading participants in activities that align with the S.W.O.L.E.™ Principles of                       Self-respect, Work hard, Overcome adversity, Lead by Example and Excellence 
  • Supervising and engaging with campers throughout the day 
  • Assisting in set-up and wrap up of daily camp operations and cleaning of facilities (if applicable) 

Collaboration & Communication 

  • Supporting volunteers with tasks, when appropriate 
  • Motivating colleagues and program participants 
  • Interacting with parents/guardians of camp participants in a positive and professional manner 
  • Supporting the marketing team with promotional content 

Safety and Wellbeing: 

  • Conducting daily site inspections to ensure all Health and Safety policies are adhered to (if applicable) 
  • Completing detailed incident reports when necessary 
  • Adhering to Health and Safety policies and Work Environment policies 

Problem-Solving and Crisis Management: 

  • Handling all issues from a Trauma Informed perspective; 
  • Mediating conflicts or issues among participants with professionalism 

Camp Program Review: 

  • Sharing program/process improvement ideas during the summer camp Debrief Week 

 

Compensation: $19.65/hour

Start Date: June 23rd, 2025

End Date: August 15th, 2025

 

This position is seasonal, with a workload of around 40 hours a week.
