Job Title: Child & Youth Care Worker Faculty Head (This job opportunity is available exclusively for internal employees. External applications will not be considered at this time)

Hours: Typically 5 hours a week and additional hours may also be required, during instructor onboarding, when supporting new faculty, up to 20 hours a week (Total working hours shall not exceed 40 hours a week).

Start Date: February 24, 2025

End Date: February 19, 2027
 

The Opportunity:

The Faculty Head is the liaison for the respective faculty. As a program champion, the Faculty Head assists the College in providing mentorship and guidance for instructors within their program while providing suggestions towards developing a long-term strategy to maintain program relevance.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop a thorough knowledge of the program curriculum as approved by the Provincial Regulator.
  • Develop a clear understanding of the program scheduling summary and related merge model.
  • Participate in provincial and national initiatives related to Child and Youth Work programs, learning outcomes, or careers.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships in the community to support student’s practical learning experiences.
  • Work with Career Services employees to support student internship placements and student job searches.
  • Be a subject matter expert for other faculty regarding the use of software and equipment.
  • Research and identify opportunities and trends within the industry to maintain program relevance.
  • Maintain the program status sheet.
  • Provide leadership oversight and act as a subject matter expert for curriculum development or provide support in identifying a subject matter expert for curriculum development and updates.
  • Maintain curriculum quality by following academic policies and procedures, as well as communicating effectively and proactively with key stakeholders.
  • Provide support for Instructor orientation and continuous instructor development support.

What you bring to the position:

  • Internal Applicants only. Current Child & Youth Care Worker Instructor with the college.
  • University degree with major course work in psychology, social work, or child studies OR a child and youth care worker diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience working with youth in a community, educational, or residential facility.
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Management and Suicide Intervention is an asset.
  • Being a member of Child and Youth Care Association is considered an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
