We are looking for a Bookkeeper to help us maintain accurate financial records and keep our business running smoothly.
Job Summary:
The Bookkeeper will handle day-to-day financial tasks, including recording transactions, managing invoices, reconciling bank statements, and preparing basic financial reports. The role requires accuracy, organization, and reliability to ensure financial records are up to date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records for the gas station, auto repair shop, and car sales operations.
- Process customer payments, invoices, and vendor bills.
- Perform bank reconciliations and track daily sales, deposits, and expenses.
- Assist with payroll processing for employees, including wage calculations and deductions.
- Prepare and submit sales tax and fuel tax filings as needed.
- Monitor and record business expenses and keep records organized.
- Generate simple financial reports (profit & loss, balance sheets) for the business owner.
- Ensure all receipts, invoices, and financial documents are properly filed and stored.
- Work with an external accountant for year-end financials and tax preparation.
- Use basic accounting software Sage for bookkeeping tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in bookkeeping or accounting for a small business.
- Proficiency in Sage or similar accounting software.
- Basic understanding of tax requirements (e.g., sales tax, payroll deductions).
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a quiet, steady-paced environment.
- Trustworthy and able to handle confidential financial information.
Education & Experience:
- Experience in small business bookkeeping preferred.
- Diploma or certificate in bookkeeping, accounting, or related field (preferred but not required).
- Previous experience in retail, gas stations, or automotive businesses is an asset.
