We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Manager to drive the growth and expansion of services offered to the meat and poultry industry in Ontario. This role will focus on identifying new business opportunities, building strong lasting relationships, project management, and contributing to strategic initiatives to ensure the long-term success of the Centre. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong track record in meat processing, sales, relationship management, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and Develop New Business Opportunities:

This role is responsible for CMIT’s business development efforts to enhance revenue streams and partnership opportunities. Examples of associated responsibilities and tasks may include:

  • Proactively identify and pursue potential clients and partnerships for Industry employers and Association members.
  • Research market trends and customer needs to inform business strategies and opportunities.
  • Generate leads and set meetings with prospective clients to drive industry support and training for members
  • Increase access to new technologies and meat processing equipment.
  • Conduct outreach to potential donors to provide equipment to CMIT.
  • Provide industry with a broad range of services.
  • Outreach to industry businesses and entrepreneurs to promote CMIT services.
  • Establishing contracts and scope of work with prospective clients
  • Liaison between CMIT and University of Guelph to ensure services meet contractual requirements and adhere to CMIT standards of excellence.

Sales Strategy & Execution:

  • Negotiate and close deals to meet or exceed revenue goals.
  • Create compelling proposals and presentations.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve business growth targets.

Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence:

  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Analyze market data to identify new opportunities and threats.

Reporting & Performance Tracking:

  • Maintain a pipeline of prospects and track progress in CRM systems.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, new business opportunities, and industry insights.

Industry Government Relations

  • Form partnerships with meat and poultry organizations and key government stakeholders
  • Engage with Industry through participation in working groups and through industry-wide events.
  • Participate in Working Groups.
  • Create and deliver public presentations as required.
  • Develop presentations that effectively communicate CMIT’s vision, mission, and objectives.
  • Deliver presentations at conferences, meetings, and other events.
  • Engage with stakeholders and the public to raise awareness of MPO's activities and priorities.

Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients and MPO members.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients and members, ensuring a positive experience and high customer satisfaction.
  • Understand member needs and tailor solutions and programs that align with their business objectives.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field. MBA or relevant certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • Experience in meat processing, distribution and or procurement. Poultry experience is not essential but preferred.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in business development, sales, or related roles.
  • Experience with B2B sales, lead generation, and building strategic partnerships.
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and KPIs.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of market trends.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and comfortable working independently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
