Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Painter & Decorator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various painting techniques and a strong understanding of both residential and commercial painting projects. This role requires attention to detail, problem solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Painter & Decorator will be responsible for transforming spaces through high-quality painting services.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, caulking or using other methods to ensure a smooth finish.
• Apply paint, varnish, stain, epoxy and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment on residential and industrial projects.
• Prepare, cut, install, and remove vinyl wallcoverings and wallpaper.
• Restore and maintain existing paintwork by performing touch-ups or complete repaints as needed.
• Read job plans and job descriptions to understand project specifications and requirements.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
• Ensure all work is completed within budget.
• Use ladders, lifts, and scaffolding as required in compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, reporting any issues promptly.

Skills

• Proficiency in residential painting techniques along with experience in commercial painting projects.
• Strong skills in restoration processes for various surfaces.
• Familiarity with construction painting practices.
• Ability to read job plans and descriptions to follow project guidelines.
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong aesthetic sense for color matching and design.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
• Adhering to provincial and federal safety regulations, and ensuring safe practices are always maintained on the job site.

Requirements

• Painting experience.
• Ability to distinguish between colours.
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs and perform manual labour tasks for long periods of time.
• Comfortable working at heights and on ladders.
• Be able to reliably commute to and from various job sites.
