The Growth Specialist will report to the Food and Beverage Atlantic Executive Director

JOB OVERVIEW

The Growth Specialist plays a key role in supporting food and beverage processors by guiding them through the membership journey, answering industry-related questions, and helping them access resources to grow their businesses. This position focuses on onboarding new members, maintaining strong relationships with existing members, and providing tailored support to help them navigate industry challenges.
As a key representative of the association, the Growth Specialist ensures that members feel supported, engaged, and equipped with the tools they need to thrive. The role requires a proactive, solution-oriented approach, strong communication skills, and a passion for helping businesses grow.

The Growth Specialist will work with many different stakeholders within the food and beverage processing industry such as business leaders, suppliers, funders, and government officials.

This role requires a can-do attitude, the ability to work cross functionally and flex with the needs of association members, the FBA team, and external stakeholders in the food and beverage industry.

Note: This position is for a 2-year contract with the potential for renewal based on funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Membership Onboarding & Engagement
• Guide new members through the onboarding process, ensuring they understand available benefits, resources, and programs.
• Act as the primary contact for member inquiries related to business growth, networking, and industry support.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement and retention.

Member Support & Industry Guidance
• Assist members in identifying growth opportunities, funding sources, training programs, and industry best practices.
• Provide one-on-one support to members, connecting them with relevant services, partners, and business development opportunities.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and challenges to better support members’ needs.

Program & Resource Coordination
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop resources, training sessions, and networking events tailored to member needs.
• Gather member feedback to improve services and identify gaps in support.
• Work closely with marketing and communications teams to promote member success stories and opportunities.

Relationship Management & Outreach
• Build strong relationships with members, partners, and industry stakeholders.
• Represent the association at industry events, trade shows, and networking meetings.
• Identify and engage potential new members, leading outreach efforts and helping to grow a welcoming, connected community.
• Identify and connect members with the most relevant trade shows, training opportunities, and industry events to maximize their growth and market exposure

Specific Skills
• Experience in member relations, business development, or industry support (preferably in food and beverage or a related sector).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and support a diverse membership base.
• Knowledge of industry trends, market opportunities, and challenges faced by food and beverage processors.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to provide guidance and connect members with relevant resources.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
• Proficiency in CRM systems, membership management software, and Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
• Excellent digital and home-office based organizational skills
• Autonomous and self-disciplined
• The ability to communicate in both French and English will be considered an asset


QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Economic Development, Food Science, or a related field.
• A diploma or certification in a relevant field combined with strong industry experience may also be considered.
• Additional training in membership management, business development, or economic growth strategies is a plus.


Experience:
• A minimum of five years’ experience in the food and beverage processing industry.
• Experience with CRM platform(s) and Sharepoint will be considered an asset.
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 is required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills are required.

Preferred Certifications:
• Training in economic development, trade/export, or food industry regulations is beneficial.

HOURS OF POSITION
37.5 hours per week

OFFICE LOCATION
Home-based remote in Atlantic Canada

SALARY
$70,000 - $80.000
