 Purpose of Job:

Direction, development and coordination of selected full-time programs (per organizational chart) for SouthernTech in accordance with policies and regulations, current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing SouthernTech.

 

Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

 

A. Essential Functions of the Job:

 Administration

  1. Supports and promotes the SouthernTech adopted quality initiatives including the Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.
  2. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
  3. Supports and assists in the development and execution of the SouthernTech strategic plan.
  4. Provide guidance to and support professional development to all instructors and staff members.
  5. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for employees and students.

 

Departmental Responsibility

  1. Supervise and provide instructional leadership and evaluation to assigned programs, instructors, and office staff.
  2. Supervise all students in Full-Time Programs assigned via the Organizational Chart.
  3. Administer budgets and purchases for assigned programs and special projects.
  4. Supervise and monitor advisory board members and evaluate their recommendations.
  5. Work to obtain certifications at the national level for all assigned programs
  6. Assist with Rigorous Curriculum Design for assigned programs.
  7. Manage and resolve student conflict.
  8. TCTW Coordination

 

Partnerships

  1. Travel to high schools within the SouthernTech district as needed.
  2. Present programs to various outside organizations
  3. Maintain partnership with state universities.

 

New Program Development

  1. Research, development and implementation of new training programs including curriculum, facilities, funding, staff/certification, budget, accreditation issues, state department approval, etc.

 

B. Secondary Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities

  1. Provide technical information to other specialists
  2. Serve on various SouthernTech and other committees

 

Other:

  1. Perform other duties, assume responsibilities and exercise other authority as may be required or directed upon by law, the SouthernTech Deputy Superintendent or the SouthernTech Superintendent.

 

Authority of the Position:

  1. Authority to use discretion, judgment, and knowledge according to federal and state law, school policy, and administrative regulations, by assignment and approval the District Superintendent.

 

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent

 

Education, Knowledge, Skill, & Experience Requirements:

 

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience:

  1. Master’s degree in Education required.
  2. OSDE Secondary Principal’s Certification required.
  3. Must possess CareerTech Administrator Credential or be willing to obtain in accordance with ODCTE guidelines.
  1. Minimum of three-five years’ experience in a Career Technology Center as a teacher, administrator or supervisor of an approved CareerTech program.
  1. Five years technical teaching experience preferred

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Expert knowledge of Rigorous Curriculum Design.
  2. Working knowledge of computerized office programs, Oklahoma School Law, federal and state laws, and the SouthernTech education system.
  3. Function as an effective SouthernTech team player.
  4. Ability to function professionally during high stress situations.
  5. Ability to implement, facilitate, and complete multiple projects in a timely and efficient manner.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Physical Requirements

  1. Sit for extended periods.
  2. Manipulate computer keyboard.
  3. Keen hearing
  4. Ability to listen to others.
  5. Vision: Close and distance vision required.
  6. Be able to communicate.
  7. Be able to properly and legally operate a school vehicle as required to travel on behalf of the district.
  8. Regularly lifts up to 25 lbs. (occasionally up to 50 lbs.).
  9. Ability to bend and stoop.

  1. Ability to read directions, instructions, both written, and spoken.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively.
  3. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and the Board of Education.
  4. Ability to write documents and effectively present information.
  5. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  6. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  7. Ability to function professionally during high stress situations.
  8. Ability to implement, facilitate, and complete multiple projects in a timely and efficient manner.

 

Work Environment:

Primarily an office environment; occasionally walking or working near moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.  Occasional out of district/state overnight travel is required.
