We are currently seeking a dependable and self-motivated Handyman – Facility Maintenance professional to join our team. This hands-on role involves a broad range of repair and maintenance duties across our facilities and outdoor areas. The ideal candidate is a flexible, skilled individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to maintaining a safe and functional environment.
Compensation
- Wage: $ 30.00 – $35.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Overtime: Overtime opportunities are available and compensated in accordance with Alberta labour standards
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Maintenance: Replace and repair light bulbs, fixtures, wiring, circuit breakers, and fuses
- Carpentry & Construction: Perform general construction tasks including woodwork, sanding, painting, and drywall repair
- Plumbing: Diagnose and repair issues with toilets, water systems, pumps, tanks, faucets, and leaks
- Facility Repairs: Maintain and repair doors, locks, tiles, flooring, and other structural components
- Outdoor Maintenance: Conduct landscaping duties, snow removal, and maintain sidewalks and driveways
- Irrigation Systems: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the irrigation systems used across our extensive product lines
Skills and Characteristics
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Broad knowledge across various maintenance disciplines
- Reliable, with strong time management and attendance record
- Clear verbal communication and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Team-oriented with a respectful and collaborative approach
- Ability to operate forklifts or other equipment as required
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in handyman or general maintenance roles
- Flexible availability, including potential for on-call shifts
- Must be able to read and understand technical instructions and documentation
- Reliable personal transportation (public transit not available in the area)
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Capable of lifting and moving up to 100 lbs
- Physically able to bend, stoop, climb, and work on stairs or trucks
- Able to stand and work actively for full 8-hour shifts or longer when required
- Comfortable working in various conditions, including outdoor environments and exposure to dust, temperature changes, and chemicals
- Strong situational awareness and mental focus to ensure safe task execution
