Position Overview
Do & Be Arts Academy of Excellence (DBAE), a K–8 visual and performing arts school committed to arts-integrated academics, project-based learning, and student-centered practices, is seeking a Founding Instructional/Testing Coordinator. This individual will play a critical leadership role in building and supporting our instructional excellence, data systems, and professional development structures from the ground up. The Founding Instructional/Testing Coordinator will lead all teacher coaching, manage the school’s professional learning systems, oversee assessment coordination, and facilitate data-driven instructional practices to ensure high levels of student achievement.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching & Teacher Support
- Provide individualized, job-embedded coaching to teachers to improve instructional strategies and student outcomes.
- Conduct regular classroom observations, provide actionable feedback, and model best practices.
- Lead professional development cycles aligned with school goals, teacher needs, and student data.
- Support teachers in implementing the school’s arts-integrated, project-based learning model.
- Facilitate data conversations to help teachers analyze student performance and adjust instruction.
- Support teacher goal setting, progress monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Professional Development Leadership
- Serve as the sole lead for all professional development planning, execution, and follow-up.
- Design and deliver school-wide PD aligned to instructional priorities, curriculum (Wit & Wisdom, Eureka Math), arts integration, and data-driven instruction.
- Monitor the impact of professional development on teacher practice and student learning.
- Collaborate with the Principal/Executive Director to ensure PD is timely, relevant, and aligned to school-wide initiatives.
Assessment, Data, and Systems Oversight
- Serve as the primary administrator for all school-wide assessments including MAP Growth, SBAC, and other required state and internal assessments.
- Manage the school’s assessment calendar, testing protocols, and compliance requirements.
- Oversee set-up and maintenance of instructional systems including the Student Information System (SIS) and MAP testing platform.
- Analyze and share school-wide and classroom-level data regularly to drive instructional adjustments.
- Lead Response to Intervention (RTI) efforts, track student progress, and support teachers in intervention planning.
- Develop systems and protocols to ensure consistent data tracking and analysis across the school.
School Leadership & Founding Team Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of a strong, collaborative school culture focused on student growth, teacher development, and community engagement.
- Lead with a founding team mentality, demonstrating flexibility, problem-solving, and a willingness to build systems from the ground up.
- Support the school’s mission to provide equitable, rigorous, and arts-integrated educational experiences for all students, especially those historically underserved.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience required; prior coaching or leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of data-driven instruction, formative and summative assessments, and RTI processes.
- Experience with testing administration (MAP, SBAC, state assessments) and instructional systems (SIS, MAP platform).
- Strong facilitation and adult learning skills.
