CKF Inc. has eight manufacturing facilities located in North America with a total workforce in excess of 900 employees.  Our operations produce foam, plastic and molded pulp products in the areas of retail, foodservice, produce, and protective packaging industries. 

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Process Improvement Specialist to join our manufacturing team focused on extrusion and thermoforming operations. This role is ideal for a candidate with a background in chemical or material engineering, a strong passion for continuous improvement, and a solid understanding of material properties and cost optimization.

The successful candidate will play a role in driving initiatives that improve product quality, process efficiency, and production cost-effectiveness, while also contributing to the overall compliance with quality standards, including GFSI.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Process Improvement & Cost Optimization
  • Help implement process improvements across extrusion and thermoforming operations to enhance efficiency, yield, and consistency.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Implement process changes and raw material optimizations to reduce waste and production costs.
  • Enforce quality protocols to enhance product reliability and consistency.
  • Conduct inspections and data analysis to ensure extruded sheet products meet internal and external standards.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions

 

  1. Raw Material Testing & Evaluation
  • Utilize advanced lab equipment to test and validate incoming raw materials.
  • Analyze test data against specifications and generate reports for process refinement.
  • Collaborate with procurement and material suppliers to ensure materials meet required standards for performance and cost.

 

  1. Internal Audits & GFSI Compliance
  • Support the quality team in internal audits to ensure compliance with GFSI and internal QA standards.
  • Address non-conformities, implement corrective actions, and support documentation and reporting needs.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the quality management system.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or Material engineering (required).
  • Experience in extrusion or thermoforming operations (preferred).
  • Familiarity with quality assurance practices and material testing techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator with excellent teamwork abilities.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and detail oriented.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
