We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and motivated individual to join our team. The Manager of Financial Accounting will own the month-end close process, ensure audit readiness, and drive continuous improvement in how we report, reconcile, and manage our financial data. The role will lead a capable team of accountants, helping them grow and deliver with confidence. This role is ideal for someone who brings a strong foundation in accounting operations, but is equally motivated by simplification, process maturity, and building a culture of accountability and clarity. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance and will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

                                               

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Close

  • Lead the preparation of monthly management reports, internal financial statements, and corporate submissions.
  • Maintain a disciplined close calendar across multiple entities and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, and accruals—ensuring the team has the tools and training to do it right.

Compliance & Controls

  • Own internal controls, financial procedures, and risk mitigation practices that promote data integrity and minimize manual intervention.
  • Balance control with flexibility—updating processes when needed without overcomplicating.

Audit & External Requirements

  • Serve as the key contact for external auditors.
  • Coordinate the audit process and ensure timely and complete working paper packages.

Operational Support & Analysis

  • Provide variance analysis and commentary to support business leaders' understanding of financial performance.
  • Partner cross-functionally to improve financial acumen and support strategic decisions.

Process & Systems Improvement

  • Lead initiatives to standardize, automate, and streamline financial reporting and consolidation processes.
  • Drive adoption and enhancement of financial systems (e.g., financial reporting tools, Power BI), in partnership with IT and corporate teams.

Additional Functional Ownership

  • Oversee accounts payable operations and support vendor management and working capital goals.
  • Coordinate insurance information submissions and claims support.
  • Perform treasury functions including cash forecasts, disbursement approvals, and banking relationships.
  • Manage tax compliance across payroll, sales, and corporate filings for Canada and the U.S.
  • Support budget and capital planning by coordinating input and reviewing assumptions.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • A CPA designation or equivalent experience in financial accounting and reporting.
  • Proven experience leading a financial close and reporting cycle across multiple entities.
  • Strong team leadership capabilities—you coach, develop, and hold people accountable.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a bias for action and structure.
  • Experience with financial systems (ERP, consolidation tools, reporting platforms).
  • A collaborative working style and a strong sense of ownership.
