Our greenhouse operation in Calgary focuses on selling finished plants, with products sourced from our Red Deer growing facility and other suppliers.

Position Summary:

The Order Coordinator is responsible for accurately selecting and preparing plant material to fulfill customer orders and assisting in daily greenhouse operations. This role ensures that all products meet quality standards, are labeled correctly, and are pulled for timely shipment or pickup. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced greenhouse environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately pull plants based on customer contracts or internal order sheets, ensuring correct quantities, varieties, and sizes.
  • Verify plant quality during selection, checking for pests, disease, or physical damage.
  • Receiving plant shipment, verifying count and separating orders.
  • Keeping a record of pulled and completed orders
  • Preparing new order and substitutions.
  • Maintaining and organizing plants in the hold area until pick up or delivery.
  • Support general greenhouse organization, cleanliness and workflow
  • Provide guidance to seasonal staff assisting in order pulling
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Greenhouse Manager or senior leadership

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma in Horticulture or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3+ years in a retail greenhouse setting, focusing on sales and merchandising.
  • Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of plant care, including watering, fertilization, pest management, and disease prevention.
    • Familiarity with Perennials, Tropicals, annuals, bedding plants, herbs, and vegetables.
    • Knowledge of soils, fertilizers, pest and disease care products, and greenhouse systems is a plus.
  • Certifications:
    • A Pesticide Dispenser or Applicator Certificate is an asset.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow order sheets accurately
    • Ability to identify plant varieties and understand order sheets (training provided).
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills (both verbal and written).
    • Ability to provide horticultural advice to customers in-person, online, or through written communication.
    • Strong physical stamina to handle the demands of greenhouse work.
    • Dependable, punctual and able to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, humidity and cold)
    • Proficiency in creating appealing plant displays and merchandising.
    • Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Compensation

  • Hourly wage: $23.00 - $25.00 (based on experience).
