Welcome To Support Ontario Youth - Industrial Trades - Applying For The Licensed Industrial Millwright Mechanic - Bootcamp Instructors - Contractor Position

Support Ontario Youth is seeking licensed Millwright Journeypersons in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario who are passionate about their trade and excited to teach and inspire others through hands-on learning. This is an independent, flexible, hourly contract position offered on a year-to-year basis.

As a Skilled Trades Bootcamp Instructor, you will travel across Ontario to deliver one-day, trade-specific bootcamp events, guiding participants through practical, tool-based activities. In this role, you will work closely with the Bootcamp and Events team—particularly the Bootcamp Manager—to support successful event delivery. For all contract-related matters, your direct point of contact will be the Director of Development and Events. This is a contract role ideal for skilled trades professionals who enjoy teaching, working with people, and representing their trade in dynamic learning environments.

While instructors may be required to travel across the province, candidates based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and are a commutable distance from our head office in Etobicoke, are preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Bootcamp Instruction

• Travel throughout Ontario to attend trade-specific, one-day skilled trades bootcamp events
• Instruct and guide participants through hands-on, tool-based learning activities
• Deliver clear, safe, and engaging instruction appropriate for beginners
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
• Represent Support Ontario Youth professionally at all bootcamp events

Event Setup & Support

• Assist with loading and unloading vans, tools, and materials
• Set up and tear down equipment and learning stations
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout events
• Support general event operations as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Licensed Journeyperson in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario
• Industry experience in a relevant skilled trade
• Strong passion for teaching and sharing trade knowledge
• Confident communicator who will be addressing small to medium sized groups of participants
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience working with apprentices, new and young workers or learners is an asset
• Reliable, professional, and safety-focused
• Ability to submit accurate invoices in a timely manner
• Up-to-date Health & safety certifications are required (WHMIS, Worker’s Health and Safety Awareness, Working at Heights, first aid and CPR are an asset)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant Ontario legislation and regulations.
• Valid G Driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and valid insurance and clean driving abstract
• Ability and flexibility to travel to events across Ontario, including those requiring overnight stays.
• This role requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to up to 20 lbs independently and 50+ lbs with assistance, move and organize inventory, stock shelving, and remain on your feet for extended periods. The position involves frequent walking, bending, and reaching.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Comfortable standing, bending, and working on your feet for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions (many bootcamps are held outside)
• This role requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to up to 20 lbs independently and 50+ lbs with assistance, move and organize inventory, stock shelving, and remain on your feet for extended periods. The position involves frequent walking, bending, and reaching.

Wage: $100 per hour
