Job description:

Full-time seasonal position. 2-year contract

 

Landscape crew members will be responsible for performing a variety of work tasks in order to complete grounds maintenance and for our commercial customers in a professional and timely fashion.  Successful candidates will be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out the specified tasks, and understand the levels of service required at each site to meet Blue Grass Ltd standards.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

• Aid in the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers in the AM and PM.
• Cut grass, trim edges, clean up refuse, blow trimmings, fertilize and water turf areas, and perform other lawn care duties as directed.
• Spray and dust areas to control insects and or weeds.
• Operate power equipment, including (but not limited to) lawn tractors, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters, and chain saws.
• Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Plan and organize daily tasks for crews.
• Actively supervise and participate in crew tasks, ensuring attention to detail and quality control.
• Set and uphold high standards for workmanship and team conduct.
• Train team members in equipment operation and best practices for landscape maintenance.
• Planting, digging, raking, and hauling landscape materials (soil, mulch, sod, trees, shrubs, etc.).
• Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment, including skid steers and excavators.
• Read and interpret basic landscape plans.
• Experience operating tools, equipment, and small engines in a safe, responsible manner.
• Strong physical stamina and manual dexterity; ability to carry out strenuous tasks and operate equipment for extended periods.
• Familiarity with materials, methods, tools, and equipment used in landscaping practices.
• Maintain clear and professional communication as part of a team.
• The schedule is based on weather and business volume, but workers will work Monday to Saturday, 10–12 hours per day, with Sundays off. Overtime provided after 8 hours a day and/or 44 hours a week.

 

 

Snow Removal:

• Operate snowplows, loaders, skid steers, and enclosed pathway sweepers.
• Perform snow removal as part of on-call duties.
• Work in adverse weather conditions to ensure client safety and satisfaction.

 

Skill Requirements:

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and the ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract.
• Two years of experience with grounds maintenance.
• Two years of experience with snow removal.
• Two years of experience supervising crews.

 

 

Working conditions are outside in all weather conditions. It is a fast-paced environment, physically demanding with repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, handling heavy loads, bending, crouching, kneeling, and attention to detail. Handling up to 45kg (100lbs).

 

• Steel-toed footwear and gloves are required
• No educational experience required
• No experience or skills required, as training will be provided on the job.
• Public transportation is not available.

 

Wage: $25.00  per hour plus overtime
