Tool and Die Maker Job Description

Responsible to: New Product Development Coordinator

Responsible for: Working alongside engineers and production members to ensure the manufacturing process is efficient and
streamlined

1. Continuously learn and stay current with advancements in tool making technology and equipment.
2. Implement changes to improve tool performance and efficiency.

General Responsibilities
Regular Duties:

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, such as CNC mill or CNC wire machine, to manufacture dies
as required by the company
Inspect machined parts and tooling in order to maintain quality control standards as set out by company
Make, repair, fabricate and modify custom-made, prototype or special tools, dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges
using various metals, alloys and plastics, which require precise dimensions.
Safe operation of all tool room equipment
General Machining following guidelines set out in the Mould Maker Training program as set out by the
Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Bench work as necessary to complete jobs as required within the allotted timeframes
Work with production and maintenance group to ensure that equipment is set up and ready for
production and repairs are performed when required.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management
Follow company handbook and all policies
- Follow general responsibilities for Health and Safety
  ? Assist the JHSC Committee as required.
  ? Report safety infractions in the health and safety log book.
  ? Inform the supervisor in a timely manner of health and safety issues where their assistance may
  be required.
  ? Recognize the recommendation that all heavy lifts (generally in excess of 40 lbs) are performed
  as team lifts.
  ? Ensure that failure by any worker to comply with the health and safety legislation and our
  policies and procedures will be met with a suitable process of progressive re-enforcement with
  the support of management.
  ? Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the workers.
  ? Report all safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.

Qualifications
1. OSSD Diploma (Grade 12)
2. Graduation from Mould Maker/Machinist/Tool & Die Maker (or similar discipline) program
3. CNC Mill operation and programming experience
4. Demonstrated proficiency with MasterCam or similar design software
5. WHIMIS Training
6. Excellent mathematical skills
7. Good problem solving skills
8. Excellent communication skills
9. Ability to work within a team environment and independently with minimal supervision

Ongoing Training Requirements
1. Attendance at monthly Safety meetings
2. Upgrade courses as required.

Range of Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Work hours: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day as require
