Community-Based Leadership Role

The Oakville Chamber of Commerce is seeking a relationship-driven leader to help shape the future of our local business community.

This is more than a sales role. It is an opportunity to build meaningful partnerships, strengthen business leadership, and support advocacy that advances economic growth and competitiveness in Oakville.

The Director, Membership Growth & Engagement plays a critical role in expanding and deepening the Chamber’s network of engaged, high-value members, ensuring their voices are represented, connected, and supported.

About the Role

As a visible ambassador for the Chamber, you will build trusted relationships with business owners, executives, and community leaders. Your focus will be to:

  • Grow new memberships with mid-to large size Oakville based businesses
  • Strengthen and retain high-value, long-standing members
  • Connect members to programs, events, and advocacy initiatives
  • Support the Chamber’s mission to foster a thriving business environment

This is a community-based role. Success is achieved through consistent outreach, strategic conversations, and meaningful engagement across Oakville’s business ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Drive Strategic Membership Growth

  • Identify and cultivate new qualifying members
  • Lead consultative conversations with senior decision-makers
  • Build a sustainable pipeline aligned with sector priorities
  • Represent the Chamber at business and civic events

 

Strengthen High-Value Engagement & Retention

  • Proactively engage established and strategic members
  • Ensure members experience clear value from advocacy and connections
  • Support long-term retention of top-tier members
  • Identify opportunities for growth within existing relationships

Advance the Chamber’s Impact

  • Serve as a credible and trusted advocate for business
  • Bring member insights and emerging trends back to inform strategy
  • Help strengthen the Chamber’s role as the voice of business in Oakville

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, consultative sales, relationship management, or member engagement
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining senior-level relationships
  • Strong understanding of business needs and economic drivers
  • Experience in a membership-based, association, or not-for-profit environment is an asset
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a community-facing role

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $60,000 – $80,000, commensurate with experience
  • Performance-based incentive program tied to:
    • New memberships as per established criteria
    • High-value member retention
