Financial Analyst Manager- Ranch Family Office (Sedalia, CO)

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Financial Analyst Manager to lead financial strategy, reporting, controls, and day-to-day cash management for a multigenerational ranch family with a diversified portfolio of operating companies and investments, including cattle ranching, direct-to-consumer beef sales, land development and lot sales, New West Custom Homes, luxury realty sales, mortgage and insurance operations, and other affiliated businesses. This role is based in Sedalia, Colorado and partners closely with ownership and operating leaders to protect liquidity, optimize profitability, and support disciplined growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily cash positioning & liquidity management: Maintain daily cash dashboard across all entities; monitor bank balances, incoming receipts, outgoing disbursements, and short-term liquidity needs; recommend timing of payments, draws, and transfers.
  • Own cash flow forecasting (weekly, monthly, and annual) across seasonal ranch operations, development cycles, and sales pipelines; stress-test scenarios and maintain contingency plans.
  • Lead budgeting and variance analysis for each business line; provide clear commentary and actionable recommendations to ownership and leaders.
  • Oversee monthly/quarterly/year-end close process and consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities (including eliminations and intercompany activity).
  • Develop and maintain management reporting packages (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, KPI dashboards) tailored to each business: cattle, DTC beef, land development, construction/custom homes, realty, mortgage, insurance, and investments.
  • Build and maintain robust spreadsheet models for profitability, project/job costing, land/lot inventory, absorption schedules, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Establish and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures to support accurate reporting and segregation of duties.
  • Partner with operations to improve cost structure, margins, pricing discipline, and working capital (AR/AP/inventory) management.
  • Oversee treasury relationships: banking, credit facilities, lines of credit, and covenant compliance; prepare borrowing base and lender reporting as needed.
  • Support capital planning and financing decisions for development, construction, acquisitions, and equipment purchases; evaluate ROI and risk.
  • Coordinate with external partners (CPA firm, tax advisors, attorneys, insurance advisors, lenders) to ensure timely filings and proactive planning.
  • Monitor and manage entity structure and intercompany transactions; ensure proper documentation and reconciliation.
  • Provide financial due diligence and integration support for new ventures or acquisitions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and act as a trusted advisor to the family owners; prepare materials for ownership meetings and strategic reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years progressive finance/accounting leadership experience; prior CFO, Controller, or Finance Director experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in daily cash management, cash forecasting, and working capital optimization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel/spreadsheets (complex formulas, pivots, Power Query a plus) and financial modeling/analysis.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting, financial statements, and internal controls; experience with multi-entity consolidation and intercompany accounting.
  • Ability to translate financial data into clear insights for owners and non-financial leaders.
  • High integrity and discretion; comfortable working in a family enterprise environment with confidential information.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across diverse businesses.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA and/or MBA.
  • Experience with one or more: agriculture/ranching, consumer packaged food or DTC/e-commerce, real estate development, homebuilding/construction job costing, brokerage operations, mortgage, and/or insurance agencies.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing accounting/ERP systems and reporting tools; ability to standardize chart of accounts and processes across entities.
  • Familiarity with Colorado real estate development considerations (project budgeting, draw schedules, lot inventory, and sales timing).
  • Experience managing audits, reviews, and/or lender examinations.

Work Location

This position is based in Sedalia, Colorado. Regular on-site presence is expected to support ownership and operating teams; some local travel to business locations and periodic meetings with external partners may be required.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the family ownership group/President (title may vary). Leads and mentors accounting/finance staff and coordinates with external accounting, tax, and advisory partners.
