Position Overview

Blue Grass Ltd. is seeking a qualified and experienced Inventory Controller to join our team. This role is responsible for managing inventory levels to ensure sufficient materials are available to support daily sales while minimizing excess stock. The successful candidate will use inventory management systems to accurately track inventory, reconcile accounts, and coordinate with vendors, while continuously optimizing processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in inventory management, excellent analytical abilities, and thrives in a fast-paced environment—both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing goods
  • Manage stock locations using inventory software
  • Produce purchase orders and create inventory parts
  • Update costs and generate selling prices as needed

Discrepancy Resolution

  • Perform regular physical and cycle counts
  • Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between system records and physical stock

Procurement & Planning

  • Collaborate with purchasers to track and expedite inventory orders
  • Assist in forecasting and demand planning reports

Reporting

  • Generate reports on inventory levels, costs, and turnover rates
  • Support purchasing decisions and financial analysis

Quality & Logistics

  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and quality of stock
  • Report damages and shortages through established receiving procedures

Communication

  • Work closely with purchasers, receivers, and accounting teams
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve order issues and ensure credits are received

Foreign Supply Management

  • Handle currency conversions, brokerage, duties, and freight
  • Work with import permits, tariffs, suppliers, and brokers

Skills and Qualifications

Analytical Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities
  • Leadership capabilities

Technical Proficiency

  • Experience with inventory management systems and databases
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel)

Communication

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers

Accounts Payable & Payroll Support

  • Experience processing supplier payments accurately and on time
  • Ability to assist with payroll tasks, including employee setup, layoffs, and bi-weekly payroll as needed

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory control or a related role
  • Experience in supply chain, warehouse logistics, accounts payable, or payroll is considered an asset
  • Proven track record of meeting performance targets

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to work in both store and warehouse environments

Schedule

  • March–November: 40 hours per week
  • December–February: 30 hours per week
